About Morris County Office of Temporary Assistance

Morris County Office of Temporary Assistance is a local New Jersey County Welfare Agencies (Boards of Social Services). There are online options to apply in New Jersey for Welfare, or you can apply in person if this is in the county where you live. Social Services provided by the State of NJ. Child Care Child Support Drug/Alcohol Assistance Earned Income Tax Credit Emergency Assistance (General Assistance): benefits include, but are not limited to: essential food, clothing, shelter and household furnishings; temporary rental assistance or back rent or mortgage payments; utility payments (such as heat, water, electric); transportation to search for housing; and moving expenses. Eligible persons include those who are homeless or at immediate risk of becoming homeless, and those who have experienced a substantial loss of housing, food, clothing or household furnishings due to fire, flood or similar disaster. Emergency Assistance is limited to 12 months. However, extensions may be granted under certain hardship conditions, with specific limitations. Mission Statement: The mission of the Morris County Department of Human Services is to provide help and assistance to residents in need, from children to families to seniors. Services provided by the Department include financial and emergency assistance, access to mental health and substance abuse services, job training and support, prevention services for youth, support for veterans, transportation for elderly and disabled, meals on wheels and adult protective services for vulnerable adults at risk of abuse.
