WANDA believes that it is essential for single mothers to attain long-term financial stability in order to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their children. WANDA assists low-income single mothers to gain economic self-sufficiency by providing financial training, matched savings, and networking to build assets and establish successful livelihoods. We serve women who live, work or attend school in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Our program accepts approximately 30 applicants each spring. During the first year, participants attend monthly seminars on financial literacy and professional and personal development. Participants in WANDA open savings accounts and make regular monthly savings deposits. They have up to three years to attain their savings goal of $2000, at which point they matched 2:1 by WANDA.
